  • Blood Sorrel or Red Sorrel (Rumex acetosa sanguineus): This wild herb, common in Italy, is often seen on restaurant menus; in fact, it's one of the most commonly used species for microgreens. In its adult form, it's found in meadows across Italy, but it's a good idea to always have it available in our vegetable gardens.
In addition to being very easy to grow, it requires practically no cultivation care, is very ornamental and has an excellent flavour, less acidic than common wood sorrel and more citrusy, with a less fleshy consistency.
It can also be used for garden borders, the adult plant does not exceed 50 cm and does not fear competition from other spontaneous plants, so you can "neglect" it without too many problems.
To be sown from March, it is perennial and only in case of strong and prolonged frosts can it lose its aerial part to start growing again in spring.
