TOGETHER FOR AGRO BIODIVERSITY
Every day, the biodiversity of our crops is diminishing. Commercial production is increasingly appearing in the markets and on our tables, to the detriment of ancient varieties, which, by being lost, carry with them a precious legacy . Cercatori di Sem Terranatura was born from an awareness of the importance of ancient local ecotypes and their protection. We cultivate seeds to secure them in our seed bank, and we promote biodiversity by disseminating techniques for producing and preserving our own seeds. Our projects aim to engage enthusiasts and farmers in cultivating the most endangered varieties:
The seed bank : in our seed bank we collect hundreds of local Italian and foreign varieties, to guarantee the survival of agricultural biodiversity
Seed distribution : We distribute seeds free of charge to those in need and sell them to finance our work. Numerous projects are completely free.
Research : We enrich our seed bank every year by searching for and preserving local Italian varieties to ensure their survival.
Education : By visiting our farms, you can learn how to produce genetically pure seeds and grow sustainably. We have also successfully engaged with children, the true heirs of our work .
FREE SEED DISTRIBUTION
The purpose of our association is to distribute seeds of local varieties. They are available for free, and we also cover shipping costs.
Associations or schools : the seeds are given free of charge to cultural associations and schools, follow us for the annual call for proposals which includes free seeds and teaching materials for primary schools and from 2024 a specific guide for teachers
Growers experiencing financial hardship : We periodically open windows for free distribution (based on our resources). You can also contact us if you need assistance. We periodically distribute seeds or seedlings of local varieties at our farm. We will notify you via newsletter or social media.

An important part of our work is disseminating the best techniques for saving seeds from endangered varieties. In the guides you can download for free, you'll find instructions and illustrations for preserving the genetic purity of the variety, producing and storing seeds correctly, and sustainable cultivation techniques. The guides are seasonal, guiding you step by step from sowing to harvest. New: starting this year, vegan recipes featuring heirloom varieties are updated weekly. Enjoy!
