  • Bagnacavallo Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus): ancient   A traditional ecotype thought to have disappeared until ten years ago, when Mr. Mingozzi of the organic farm "La Radisa" managed, thanks to research and his knowledge of breeding, to find its seeds. Not in the local area, however, but in Canada, where a family of migrants brought them from their homeland, continuing its cultivation overseas. Also known as Anguria di Romagna, or Ardita, it was thus revived thanks to patience, research, and passion. The fruits are medium-large, weighing well over ten kilograms. A distinctive feature is their color, dark green on a light background, unlike common commercial watermelons. Ripening is late (also given the size) and is not always uniform (as is often the case with ancient varieties), but yield is good. An ecotype worth saving.

Those ordering from Emilia Romagna can request it directly and free of charge by leaving a message in the appropriate box at the checkout.
