  • Cheltenham Green Top Beetroot (Beta Vulgaris) : an old English variety, dating back to 1880 to be precise.

     The term "green top" refers to the aereal part (leaves), which can be eaten boiled or in salads. The roots hold dark purple color that doesn't fade when cooked, and have an exceptionally delicate taste.

     Beets prefer loose soil and a sunny position, but this variety selected in northern Europe is more tolerant of cold climates and less favorable positions.
