  • Thai Lemon Basil (O. americanum sp. pilosum): Ancient Asian variety with a lemon scent. The long pointed leaves of "Maenglak" are used not only in cooking but also in Ayurvedic medicine.  Transplant should be done when temperatures are stable and above 25 degrees. In order to get fresh leaves non-stop, the inflorescences should be cut, instead, to reproduce the seeds allow some plants to grow and keep the inflorescences, when these are almost dry collect and sift them to obtain the seeds. Although Asian basils tolerate high temperatures better, they benefit from mid-shade positioning.
