Carosello Scopatizzo (Cucumis melo)
Carosello Scopatizzo Leccese (Cucumis melo): Also known as the incomplete melon, this is a traditional variety grown in Southern Italy, where it is eaten raw. Like other Carosellos and the Tortarello, it is actually a melon, harvested when still immature and eaten like a cucumber, but it is more resistant to fungal diseases than cucumbers. The plant can be grown in the ground or as a climbing plant. It is advisable to save the seeds, as commercial production could produce hybrids that would lose the plant's hardiness.
Pick it when it reaches 15 cm for consumption. Leave a few fruits per plant to reproduce the seeds.
Be careful , it is a hybrid with melons and not with cucumbers.
