Yellow Bunch Carrot (Daucus carota)

Yellow Bunch Carrot (Daucus carota): beautiful carrot of bright yellow colour, particularly sweet; it reaches 25 cm, however it can be consumed much smaller, as a "baby". The entire cultivation cycle reaches 4 months. Compared to the normal non-orange carrots, the top of this ecotype  does not tend to green, nor curl. Even if the presence of carotene is slightly lower than in orange carrots, this is instead rich in lutein, to which it owes its color, a carotenoid also present in the human retina, fat-soluble and metabolized in an excellent way by the vegetables that contain it. Carrots, as not many know, are mainly orange only from the 17th century, when Dutch growers started cultivating orange carrots as a tribute to William D'Orange - who led the fight for Dutch independence - and the color remained. A thousand years of history of yellow, white and purple carrots were almost completely swept away in a generation.  This one can also be grown on balconies.
