Mayan Gherkin (Melothria scabra)
Mayan Cucumber (Melothria scabra) - Cucamelon : The smallest cucumber in the world, also called Sandia del Ratòn, or Mouse Watermelon.
A vigorous climbing plant, easy to grow. Sown in spring, it fruits early and produces fruit until late summer. Excellent disease resistance, it is not susceptible to downy mildew or powdery mildew. Perfect for balconies, not least for its decorative appearance.
Fresh in taste, non-aggressive and rich in minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, sulfur, manganese, potassium, sodium, iron, iodine.
The exotic appearance of a tiny watermelon and the fresh, gentle flavor of these charming fruits are popular with children, who can benefit from the many minerals they contain (calcium, phosphorus, sulfur, manganese, potassium, sodium, iron, and iodine). They should be eaten raw.
Even for the older ones there is a particular use, in fact it is very suitable (as well as in fruit salad) for garnishing summer cocktails.
