Broccoli Rabe from Fasano - Turnip top (Brassica rapa subsp. sylvestris var. esculenta): famous and very tasty, also called broccoletti. This is the Apulian variety, but the “broccoletti” are typical, as well as their famous recipes, from Lazio, Molise, and Campania (where they are called Friarielli).
To be sown in summer for winter consumption, or in spring for seed reproduction. Varieties range from the earliest, 40 days, to the late ones which are ready in 120 days. This Apulian variety is ready in 90 days.
Whether you cook them with “Strascinati”, with “Orecchiette”, or to fill pizza, the Broccoli Rabe holds great nutritional properties that provide important vitamins for winter time.
