  • Acadian Golden Cotton (Gossypium herbaceum): a rare and beautiful plant whose rebirth is worth telling. Acadian cotton (from "Occitan") is an ancient variety cultivated by the Acadians or Cajuns, the French colonists exiled from Nova Scotia by the English in 1760, who settled in the bayous and prairies of southern Louisiana. The Acadians, skilled in the production of woolen fabrics, adapted to the cultivation of golden cotton, a variety native to South America that arrived in Louisiana via Mexico. The fibers have natural shades of light brown tending towards golden and were traditionally used in highly prized blankets, bedding, and hand-woven garments.

Like all cotton varieties, it's particularly decorative and easy to grow. However, it struggles with weed competition; we recommend adequate mulching. Transplantshould be carried out when the plant reaches 15 centimeters and temperatures are consistently above 10°C.
It is grown as an annual but once it has reached adequate development it remains perennial in the absence of frost, withstanding mild winters.

Flowering continues until intense cold, continuously producing beautiful golden cotton flakes.
Cotton keeps well for a long time, you can use it to make unique centerpieces.
The plant full of cotton, will be a gorgeous sight everyone will be fascinated.
