Dwarf Dolico Black Green Bean (Vigna unguiculata)
Dwarf Black Dolicho Bean (Vigna unguiculata): By green bean, we mean a climbing mangetout bean, meaning without strings; the pod is eaten when immature. We prefer this more popular and straightforward term. We've received a lot of requests for "green beans," so we've decided to distribute the ones we grow for our own consumption. What's unique about this variety is that it's not a P. vulgaris (the most common bean), but a Vigna unguiculata, a black-eyed bean. It's a dwarf, early-ripening plant with moderate yields, yet easy to grow. It obviously doesn't require support, has no particular soil requirements, and requires little water. In short, it's an "easy" plant. The dark green pods grow to 18 cm in length, but can be harvested even when smaller. To reproduce, let the pods ripen and dry at the end of cultivation, then remove them and store them in the refrigerator for the following year.
