Besbee Red Bean (Vigna unguiculata)
Besbee Red Bean (Vigna unguiculata): rustic and undemanding variety, especially regarding irrigation. The plant has climbing habit and produces long pods, it also has good productivity of the typical dark red "black-eyed" seeds. These beans arrived in the Americas from Africa via slave routes. They are extremely rustic and drought-resistant, great for water-saving crops. The important and deep roots make it an excellent nitrogen fixing, it is very suitable for the "three sisters" or the Milpa (cultivation methods) of the Amerindian natives (pumpkin/corn/bean). Also great for beginners, thanks to its particular rusticity. This variety is included in the experimentation of Aridoculture.
