Caje Muni Bean (Vigna unguiculata)
Caje Muni Bean (Vigna unguiculata): this black-eyed bean comes from the Sonoran Desert, it is part of the research on ecotypes with less water requirements, both for sustainability and for cultivation in dry soil climates, we are in the third year of cultivation but we have not yet tried it in dry farming, dry cultivation, a test that we will carry out this season (2021).
The plant is very hardy and undemanding, less vigorous than other black-eyed peas, making it especially suitable for growers in difficult conditions. The current largest black-eyed pea production area extends across the southern Saharan countries, a testament to the remarkable hardiness of this species' ecotypes.
Since it is extremely rare in Europe (distributed only on our website) and only available in a few seed banks specializing in cultivars suitable for cultivation in arid areas, we have not yet tried it in the kitchen.
For those who love to experiment, for collectors and for those who need an ecotype that is exceptionally tolerant to difficulties.
