Calico Travelers Lima Bean (Phaseolus Lunatus)
Calico Lima Bean (Phaseolus Lunatus): A large lima bean with a bushy growth habit (be careful, some texts list it as a climbing bean, pole; this was a mistake by Doug Kurzer, the person who saved the variety and later distributed it for free). Intense colors, full flavor, and a creamy consistency. It loves heat, and where the growing season is long, the plant is exceptionally productive.
In Lazio, where we grow it, it grows vigorously, tolerating the scorching, dry summers that have persisted for some years now.
Over the years of cultivation it has also demonstrated good tolerance to low temperatures, and can therefore be grown throughout our peninsula.
