Ring Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris)

Anellino bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) : This is an ancient, rustic, and productive variety, typical of Italy. The plant grows to a height of 40 cm, is highly productive, and tolerates low temperatures better than other beans. The beans have the flavor of the finest borlotti beans, enclosed in the characteristic ring-shaped pod from which they take their name. Easy to grow, early, and with no particular soil or irrigation requirements, they are also eaten as a "mangiatutto" (all-purpose food). Another Italian delicacy from Trentino.
