  • Nasieddu bean (P. vulgaris): another Italian excellence from Basilicata. This climbing bean has a small, oval seed, characterized by a black spot on the hilum. In the Sarconi growing area, along with other ecotypes, it holds the PGI designation. Due to a lack of generational turnover, these traditional varieties are at risk; fewer and fewer young people are cultivating these Italian excellences. As mentioned, the plant has a climbing habit and is moderately productive. The seeds have a thick skin and a consistency that allows for long cooking times. It ripens medium late, about 85 days after transplanting.
