Black Bean from the Caribbean (Phaseolus vulgaris): native to a famous unnamed island starting with C, a few miles away from here; this is a delicious, traditional black bean, protagonist of many recipes based on “Salsa”. The plant has climbing habit and is very productive, but most importantly, it is resistant to phytopatologies and not very demanding in regards of soil. That is because of two main reasons: the first is the difficult soil and climate of the Caribbean, where it was selected, which is also more permeated by pathogens and harmful insects than in more temperate weathers.
