Purple-seeded Tarahumara sunflower (Helianthus annuus ): From the Running People , the Tarahumara, comes this very hardy sunflower. The three-meter-tall plant adapts to poor soil. This ancient variety is cultivated for its characteristic purple seeds, with a few white ones. The large flower is excellent for producing honey. However, thanks to its precociousness, it can be grown in all regions as long as it enjoys plenty of sun.
