  • Habanero Red Savina (Capsicum chinense) : the hottest habanero cultivar, it held the Guinness World Record from 1994 to 2007, when it was surpassed by the Ghost Pepper. This cultivar started the record-breaking race, which inspired many people to cultivate and self-produce seeds. The fruits are fleshy, ranging in color from dark orange to deep red, with smooth skin, an ovid shape with a pointed bottom, and just over half a million SHU.
Red Savina is also interesting in the kitchen: very spicy but aromatic, it is excellent for the production of spicy oil, or dried and ground for an explosive powder.
This is certainly a cultivar for everyone, both beginners and collectors, who will not want to miss the first chilli pepper to win Guinness World Records.

For Chinense chillies it makes little sense to talk about "ancient" or traditional seeds, because with the exception of a few (such as the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion ), the constant push for spicier varieties means that new ecotypes are constantly being developed, spreading seed production techniques even among amateurs.
