Nagasaki Long Eggplant (Solanum melongena)

Nagasaki Long Eggplant (Solanum melongena): the series from the Land of the Rising Sun continues. Japan is among the leading countries in agricultural biodiversity and selection. It places great emphasis on organoleptic characteristics, and this is no exception. This large, deep black eggplant has no bitterness and can therefore be eaten raw. It is not suitable for preparations requiring long cooking times, but is perfect for frying.

It is a variety particularly suited to hot-humid climates which it tolerates with ease.

The pulp has a velvety consistency and the flavour is reminiscent of hazelnut.
