Alacati melon (Cucumis melo): This splendid melon hails from Turkey, more precisely from the city of Alacati. The large fruit is slightly pear-shaped, with a beautiful yellow rind dotted with green, almost "tiger-striped." The white flesh is sweet and delicate. Once picked, it stores well. It requires rich, yet balanced soil, without excess nitrogen. The plant is moderately productive, preferring full sun when planted, and is ready to harvest approximately 90 days after transplanting.
