Fava Bean Blossom Melon (C. melo var. inodorus)
LANCIO SACCHETTI DI NATALE
Fava Bean Blossom Melon (C. melo var. inodorus): this ancient Italian variety is not widely known, it comes from Southern Italy where it was called (from online news) "Brindisino". It is a winter melon, with a long shelf life. The fruit is not large in size, with thin but leathery skin, of white/yellow colour strongly speckled with green. The mesocarp (pulp) is white, with a very light scent, sweet and juicy, particularly "full" which causes the melon to be particularly heavy compared to its size. The plant is vigorous and needs trimming to improve production. This is an Italian variety at risk of disappearing, it is distributed free of charge in the province of Brindisi, just leave a note in the designated section of the cart.
