Kazah melon (Cucumis melo): from the heart of Central Asia, this small, tasty, and extremely hardy melon is a true early-ripening variety, among the most drought-tolerant, and undemanding, even suitable for potted cultivation. The fruits weigh up to 1.5 kg, with a protective leathery skin on the outside and a sweet, fragrant white pulp on the inside. Being early-ripening, it is suitable for growing even in shorter growing seasons, and, tolerating scorching summers, it also thrives in the far south. Adaptable, hardy, and selected for challenging conditions, it is a reflection of its native soil. Its limited yield makes it suitable for home-grown cultivation in places with limited resources.
