  • Indian Snake Melon (C. melo var flexousus): to top our "collection" of Flexousus (Armenian Cucumber , Xylangouro and Abruzzo Tortarello) we have this authentic rarity from India. We have thus grouped together, travelling through space and time, the most representative varieties of immature melons, which have arrived in our country over the centuries from distant Asia and have become part of our culture and cuisine. From Snake melon to tortarello, from India to Magna Graecia. As adapting to our country, the size and flavours gradually changed, from longer than 1 mt as this variety displays, to the 40 cm of Italian tortarello, from the sweet and almost acid taste to the fresh and bitter. They all have one common characteristic, fresh consumption. The cultivation of this plant is easy, to get very long fruits it should be provided with support for climbers, the younger fruits should be cut (and eaten) and some should be allowed to achieve full maturity and reach the maximum dimensions, it will definetely be a topic of conversation. Recommended for those interested in botany and agronomy, as well as those who are more curious.
