Carolina Reaper Chili Pepper HP22B (Capsicum chinense)

Carolina Reaper Pepper HB22B (Capsicum chinense) : Direct from the REAL producer, Mr. Smoking Ed, the 2,200,000 SHU, Guinness World Record 2014, the undefeated Carolina Reaper, the hottest pepper in the world.
The berries are large and fleshy, of a beautiful bright red colour, the skin is wrinkled with the typical tail (cusp).
Easy to grow, it requires attention to germination temperatures. It is a highly macrothermal plant and does not tolerate low temperatures. To ensure the plant survives the winter (for pot cultivation), we recommend pruning the apical branches to encourage lignification of the trunk.
It gives its best in the ground but if well cared for it can also be grown well in a pot.

The Carolina Reaper was selected by Mr. Ed Curry, "Smoking Ed Curry" of the Puckerbutt Company. Our genetics come directly from this breed: it's easy to purchase seeds or "Reaper" plants that have been hybridized or selected by inexperienced breeders. These will have different characteristics from the original variety and often don't reach or even come close to the cultivar's standards. We select our peppers in isolation, with a sufficient number of specimens to avoid the so-called "bottleneck," which is a genetic impoverishment of the selection due to over-close crossings. This results in strong plants that conform to the standards of the hottest pepper in the world.
