Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Pepper (Capsicum chinense)
LANCIO SACCHETTI DI NATALE
Trinidad Moruga Scorpion chili pepper (Capsicum chinense): We chose this variety from among the many that appear in extremely hot chili peppers because, along with the habaneros (but not the Red Savina), it is one of the few that was discovered and not selected. For a long time, it was touted as the hottest in the world, then second, but in reality it never entered the Guinness Book of Records. However, the Butch Taylor Trinidad Scorpion, selected by Zydeco Farm, did, and is perhaps less spicy in peak but hotter in average (which is what counts).
A little over a million SHU, fruity aroma, and a beautiful, round, wrinkled, and cusped appearance. It germinates and grows at stable temperatures; the plant dies below 10°C. Overwintering and promoting lignification results in spicier fruits as the plant ages.
