Trinidad Scorpion Butch T chili pepper (C.Chinense)
LANCIO SACCHETTI DI NATALE
Trinidad Scorpion Butch T chili pepper (C. Chinense): Guinness World Record in March 2011 with an average of 1,463,700. The cultivar was named by Neil Smith of The Hippy Seed Company after receiving the seeds from Butch Taylor, owner of Zydeco Farm.
It is currently the second hottest chili pepper recognized; other new cultivars may be hotter, but without certification like that of the Guinness World Record, there's no way to be certain. It's often said that it was surpassed by the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion, but in reality, the Butch T's average was higher than its rival, which never entered the Guinness Book of Records. The three-lobed pepper has a pointed tip on the underside, the skin is smooth, and the color is intense red; there are no known color variations. Although little-known, it is certainly one of the chili peppers that has contributed to the race for the hottest in the last decade. Extremely hot and with a fairly neutral flavor, no fruity nuances, pure heat.
