Tomato Ensalada Canario (Lycopersicon lycopersicum)
Canarian Tomato (Lycopersicon lycopersicum): As its name suggests, this is a typical tomato from the Canary Islands, specifically from the southern side of Tenerife. It's a medium-sized, ribbed variety, weighing just over 100 grams. Once picked, it keeps well for some time. Its flavor is balanced between acidity and sweetness, making it suitable for a variety of culinary uses, both raw and in sauces. The plant is hardy, very productive, doesn't require excessive water, and tolerates intense heat well. It doesn't suffer from blossom-end rot, meaning it doesn't "burst" due to water stress (irrigation problems). This ribbed variety is also suitable for beginners, as this type of tomato is typically more demanding to grow.
