Cherokee Purple Tomato (Lycopersicon lycopersicum): A new heirloom tomato (1890) from the Cherokee tribe. The large, wine-colored fruits have a sweet flavor, with very little acidity. The plant is indeterminate, hardy, and produces a harvest within 80 days of transplanting. It tolerates scorching heat and full sun well, and is highly resistant to water stress and blossom-end rot, despite its size.
