Creole Tomato (Lycopersicon lycopersicum)
LANCIO SACCHETTI DI NATALE
Creole tomato (Lycopersicon lycopersicum): In our search for tomatoes best suited to the increasingly hot climate, we came across this ancient variety from the southern United States, from the state of Louisiana. Bred in the hot, windy floodplains, it is resistant to drought stress and strong sun exposure, and was also selected for flavorful Creole cuisine: its firm flesh is juicy and sweet, with a full, intense flavor. The berry ripens early, around 65 days after transplanting, and its size varies from 250 to 350 grams. Indeterminate variety.
Suitable for dryland farming. We chose this variety precisely for its characteristics of rusticity, resistance to temperatures and precocity.
*= Very low, does not require irrigation
**= Low, also suitable for hot and arid areas, water only in case of prolonged drought
***= Reduced, one of the least demanding varieties of the species, suitable for areas with sporadic rainfall, irrigate only in case of prolonged drought
****= Tolerant to water stress, requires moderate irrigation, suitable for low-water consumption gardens.
Unfortunately, until the guide is published, this is just a rough guideline to avoid confusion. Dryland farming requires cultivation techniques suited to the soil and soil conditions. All varieties have been acclimated in Italy.
