Ficarazzi Tomato (Lycopersicon lycopersicum)
LANCIO SACCHETTI DI NATALE
Ficarazzi tomato (Lycopersicon lycopersicum): an heirloom variety from Sicily, also known as Primaticcio di Palermo, is a particularly early-ribbed tomato with remarkable resistance to plant diseases typical of the species. The plant is vigorous and highly productive; the ribbed, slightly flattened berries have a sweet, particularly watery flavor. It is best eaten fresh, but not suitable for preservation. It can be grown without supports and has very low water requirements. There are some doubts about the origins of this cultivar, but the earliest records date back to before the beginning of the last century. This variety is now rare to grow, both for its flavor and its remarkable hardiness. Primaticcio di Palermo is one of those varieties at risk of extinction, which we distribute free of charge in its native and neighboring municipalities. Simply request it by leaving a message when ordering or by calling, and pick it up completely free of charge at our headquarters.
