  • Piennolo Yellow Tomato (Lycopersicon lycopersicum): to be honest we must specify that while the Piennolo del Vesuvio also present on our catalogue is one of the most traditional ecotype (Galatino), this cherry variety also presents its characteristics, more or less markedly, that is, a solid peduncular attachment, a thick skin and a high concentration of sugars, therefore suitable for winter preservation as the classic Piennolo. Even if it is not the most traditional variety, it is neither a Principe Borghese, a conserve tomato often passed off as Piennolo (smaller and sweeter) but with far inferior characteristics.  Cultivation is easy, determined plant, does not suffer from apical rot,it is less demanding in terms of water requirements than many other tomatoes.  In the kitchen it makes an impression, the beautiful bright yellow color combined with the organoleptic characteristics of the ecotype make it a champion (of course, the taste depends partly on the soil).
