Pisanello or Florentine Costoluto Tomato (Lycopersicon lycopersicum)
LANCIO SACCHETTI DI NATALE
Pisanello Tomato (Lycopersicon lycopersicum) : The Pisanello tomato is flattened and ribbed, bright red in color, and sweet yet tart. It has firm flesh with a strong fruity aroma and weighs up to 200 grams. Its name clearly derives from the province where it is most widespread, but it can be found throughout Tuscany. While the ribbed Florentine tomato has been severely compromised by commercial breeding, the Pisanello draws on a more ancient heritage. The plant is indeterminate and moderately productive, and dislikes excessive exposure. Shading with other varieties or more heat-tolerant tomatoes is helpful. A little care will bring you an incredibly flavorful product on your plate. An Italian excellence.
