Details
Yellow Reisetomate Tomato (L. lycopersicum): A yellow variation of the so-called "Traveler's Tomato." It was probably used during travel because it was easy to separate parts of the tomato without damaging the entire berry, thanks to the phenomenon of fasciation . This usually occurs due to plant diseases, considered a defect in the berry, but in the Reisetomate, it is genetic: it causes the tomato to develop as an irregular collection of small, tangled tomatoes, giving it a grotesque appearance.
The flavor is sour, acidic, yet pleasant, fragrant but not excessively sweet. As mentioned, it keeps well after picking, even when consumed in small quantities.
The plant is indeterminate, and the berries ripen within 75 days of transplanting. This variety is recommended for its botanical interest, but less so for its consumption. Rare and unique.
