San Marzano Tomato (Lycopersicon lycopersicum): named after its birthplace, the city of San Marzano in Sarno, It has an elongated shape, and it's particularly suitable to the agri-food processing industry, in which it is used to make peeled preparations and preserved foods. Specifically, it is considered by many chefs as one of the best tomatoes to make sauces and conserves. The original San Marzano cultivar was destroyed by a virus in 1991, the proposed variety here is "San Marzano 2" which maintains generic and special characteristics of the oldest variety.
