Tomato Sibirskiy Skorospelyi (Lycopersicon lycopersicum L.)
LANCIO SACCHETTI DI NATALE
Siberian Skorospelyi (Lycopersicon lycopersicum L.): The difficulty in growing this ecotype lies only in the pronunciation of its name. The plant, selected in Russia, easily tolerates a wide range of temperatures, is determinate, and ripens in just 58 days from transplanting, making it one of the earliest varieties. This makes it suitable for cold climates or where the season is particularly short, such as valleys or high-altitude areas. The berry weighs 200 grams, has a very thin, dark skin, and produces good yields. The flavor is balanced, and it can be used in salads and sauces, but less so for preserves due to the light consistency of the pulp. We recommend planting in full sun; in central and southern Italy, sowing can be delayed until July.
The American selections of this tomato are called Early Siberian, but in fact they are the same ecotype, we prefer to present the original name.
