Watermelon Beefsteak Tomato (Lycopersicum Lycopersicon)
Watermelon Beefsteak Tomato (Lycopersicum lycopersicon): This delicious and juicy tomato hails from the mountains of West Virginia, where it has been cultivated for over a century. Please note: the seeds are from the original Watermelon Beefsteak , known for its excellent production of plump, pink tomatoes, weighing between 500 grams and a kilo. They are slightly ribbed, streaked with green, and have a distinctive, sweet, and nuanced flavor. Excellent in salads or for a caprese salad, with its intense flavor and that tomato aroma that fills the air. The plant is indeterminate and very productive, requiring adequate support for the weight of the berries. Ready in 75 days from transplanting. This time, excellence comes from the United States.
The seeds for this tomato come directly from the descendants of seedman George Gleckler, who introduced it as a stable variety in 1958. We've been growing it for about three years, and it's always given us tremendous satisfaction. The plant is hardy and exceptionally productive, but what you'll be most pleased with is the rich, sweet flavor of this fantastic half-kilo plus beefsteak.
