Royal Savoy Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum)

Savoy tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum): a true rarity from the now dismantled greenhouse in Turin.

We have returned to enjoying this product thanks to Lorenzo, from the La Tana dell'Orso farm, who recovered the seeds and shared them with us to reproduce, preserve and distribute.

According to the few sources available to us, as we are still conducting research, the tobacco is a Virginia Bright variety, meaning it has light leaves, and is used as a pipe tobacco. The plant is vigorous, bearing approximately 50 leaves, including the apical ones, and reaching a height of approximately 1.80 meters. The plant has no particular soil requirements; it was grown in a medium-textured/sandy soil that had not been cultivated for several years. It was worked by subsoiling, followed by tilling, and transplanted 25 days after planting. The entire crop, consisting of approximately 500 plants, has always thrived and presented no problems.
