Hopi tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum)

Hopi tobacco (Nicotiana rustica): a variety of ceremonial tobacco from the most famous ethnic group of farmers among the Pueblos: the people of peace, the Hopi.
Exceptional farmers in truly hostile areas.
Like Santo Domingo Ceremonial Tobacco, this ecotype is used in shamanic ceremonies; the consumption of the plant is reserved for special occasions or particular rites.
Sowing should be done in a seedbed with a minimum temperature of 18°C. The seeds should not be covered but left on the surface. They are tiny. Use the free guide found in the dedicated section of this site (click here for the guide) to help you prepare a proper seedbed.
The transplant should be done when six or seven leaves have appeared
The rustic species, mostly ceremonial, have yellow flowers. The plants are slightly shorter than the varieties used to produce leaves for cigars and various derivatives, and the leaves are also larger. On the other hand, the ceremonial varieties are more rustic and less demanding.
For seed production, it should be allowed to flower. If grown for consumption, however, it is advisable to prune the flower and axillary shoots to increase production and leaf quality.
Each plant will provide a large quantity of seeds. Flowering and fruit set last until severe frosts. A collector's variety.
