  • Tomatillo Rendedora (Physalis philadelphica): our intense research over the year has led us to discover new traditional cultivars from Mexico, such as this one. The berries are among the largest of the species, slightly ribbed and soft green when immature to become yellow when ripe. They can be consumed in both cases: green, they will be more acid whereas yellow they will be sweeter, with a slight hint of almond. The important thing for harvest is that the "paper" that protects the berry looks completely full completely even if closed). The plant exceeds one metre in height by almost one metre in width, which must be taken into account when transplanting by adopting a planting space of 1mtbetween plants and 1mt between lines. The plant is rustic and very resistant to phytopathies and parasites.  Although rustic, almost like a spontaneous, a rich soil will render it more productive and provide more complex flavours. It does not tolerate water stagnation well, it should only be irrigated when the soil is dry. Transplant should be carried out when temperatures are constantly above 15 ° and at full sun exposure. The plant should be provided with support in order to help it with the weight of the numerous fruits. The harvest should be escalated in intervals of about 75 days after transplant.
