Boston Marrow Pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima) American pumpkin that appeared on the catalogues around 1831, where it was mentioned to be original from Buffalo, NY, from seeds donated by a native tribe. This variety was important for commercial purposes for over 150 years and only towards the en of the 1900's it was abandoned by commercial agriculture.
The plant is rustic and productive, the fruits reach up to 8kg hold.a beautiful orange colour, it is pear-shaped like the Hubarb, and the flesh is not fibrous but very sweet.
Because of its particular taste, it has been inserted in the US' Slow Food Presidium.
