Jumbo Pink Banana Squash (Cucurbita maxima)

Jumbo Pink Banana Squash (Cucurbita maxima): A beautiful and ancient variety, known for over a century, originally from the United States. The fruit varies greatly in size depending on cultivation; the plant is particularly vigorous and productive. By pruning and removing excess fruit, it can grow to considerable sizes, up to one meter and weighing over 20 kg.
We prefer to grow it by pruning it (see the free guide "Growing and Saving Pumpkin Seeds" ) but leaving the fruits on the plant, in this way the flavor is preserved, pumpkins of up to 4/5 kg have an exceptional flavor, firm pulp and above all the skin, a beautiful pink, remains thinner and it is possible to eat it without removing it, try it baked, fabulous.
Growing it isn't the easiest; the plant is exceptionally vigorous, but it requires a little extra care and pruning. Its large yields also require rich, well-worked soil.
