Papaccelle Ricce, with a fresh, intense aroma, a sweet flavor, and never too spicy, grow no larger than 8-10 cm in diameter.
In the South, they can be sown until the beginning of July, with harvesting continuing until November.

Slow Food Presidia are an Italian excellence.

  • The Curly Papaccella in the kitchen

Papaccelle can be eaten fresh, roasted, pan-fried, or baked, stuffed with the classic filling of tuna or salted anchovies, olives, breadcrumbs, raisins, pine nuts, Piennolo tomatoes , and capers.
Berries preserved in red wine vinegar are the main ingredient in insalata di rinforzata, a typical Neapolitan Christmas dish.
